Some houses tell a story that goes far beyond simply being a place to stay. They embody life stories, courageous choices, and sometimes unexpected rebirths. Le Clos de la Chapelle, in La Chapelle-sur-Loire, is one of those places where you immediately sense that a human story lies hidden behind the walls.

When I met Julie, I discovered a woman with a sincere smile, a gentle voice, but a determined gaze. A woman who, like many, had built her life in the hustle and bustle of big cities before fate reminded her that the most important paths are sometimes those we had never considered.

Originally from Lille, Julie and her husband had long led an active, urban life. A rich existence, punctuated by work, projects, and daily routines. Then an accident shattered this equilibrium. As is often the case in such moments, they had to question everything, rethink their future, and imagine a different way of living.

With one part of the family settled in the North and the other near Cahors, nothing seemed to predestine the couple to settle in Touraine. Yet, it is here, in La Chapelle-sur-Loire, on the banks of the royal river, that they finally decided to put down their suitcases.

The house they discovered required a lot of work. No matter. Stone by stone, room by room, they brought it back to life. Very quickly, they opened Le Clos de la Chapelle and welcomed their first guests.

Here, the days unfold to the rhythm of the Loire. Birdsong replaces the noise of traffic. Sunsets over the river take the place of city lights. Julie and her husband don't just experience this gentle way of life on the Loire; they share it with those who cross their threshold.

But some people have entrepreneurship in their blood. Once they regain their balance, the desire to create returns naturally.

A new adventure then began in Bourgueil with the creation of the Petit Totem boutique. The project took place in an old building steeped in history, acquired a few years earlier by a generous father, deeply convinced that the trust placed in others is often the best investment.

As in any human endeavor, things don't always go as planned. Paths diverge, collaborations sometimes end. Many would have chosen to move on.

Julie, however, decides to continue.

Alone.

With courage.

With that quiet strength that is often found in those who have already weathered life's storms.

Today, she divides her energy between Le Clos de la Chapelle and Petit Totem. Two different activities but driven by the same philosophy: welcoming, sharing, creating connections and bringing to life places where people remain at the center of everything.

Throughout our conversation, I primarily encountered a resilient woman. A woman who has never stopped moving forward despite the hardships. A woman who continues to believe in encounters, projects, and the ability to reinvent herself.

Perhaps this, ultimately, is the spirit of the banks of the Loire.

This river that never goes back up its course reminds us every day that we must keep moving forward, even when life forces us to take unexpected paths.

Le Clos de la Chapelle is not just an address to stay in Touraine.

This is the story of a new beginning.

And sometimes, the most beautiful journeys begin precisely like this.
